BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!

WEST HARLEM/WASHINGTON HEIGHTS.....The West Harlem Art Fund, Inc. is proud to announce the opening of their summer art exhibition "Cultural Treasures" featuring the artist LADYBIRD.

The show will open on Thursday, July 17th and run through August 8, 2003 at the Gallery Space at Russ Berrie. The location of the gallery is 1150 St. Nicholas Avenue, near 167th Street in Washington Heights. Sponsorship includes: Absolut Vodka, the Columbia Medical Center Neighborhood Fund, HSBC and the Harlem Arts Festival

Lady Bird's work can best be described through the words "Social Consciousness." Her paintings give the viewer a perception that is often overlooked in our everyday struggles. She, in her paintings, expresses an aspect of life as it existed during the periods of slavery, Harlem (1940's), and Civil Rights, many of which she personally experienced. "I want my paintings to tell a story. I paint what I feel and experience. I will not be pigeon-holed for any reason-commercial or otherwise," she said.
Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. To call for more information contact, the West Harlem Art Fund, Inc. (212) 690-0867.
