Picnic Day at the Bali Bird Park for industry partners

Bali June 8, 2004 -- Last week end saw the sales and marketing team of SOBEK The Adventure Specialists hosting more than 250 people within the tourism industry for a fun Picnic at the Bali Bird Park. With the intention to re-introduce the beautiful 2-hectare park to industry partners, the event took on a spirited mode as members of the tourism industry scrambled for bird clues all around the park, walking like a Flamingo, chirping like a Bird of Paradise, and experiencing the bird feeding activities all at the same time.

"We hope to bring our partners to an understanding of the bird life, actually bringing them in direct contact with the birds, seeing the real bird habitat, so that they can confidently tell their clients about what the park is all about," confessed Ketut Suasana, General Manager of the Bali Bird Park.

Fransiska Handoko, the newly appointed Director of Sales and Marketing also added that this was exactly one of the ways the team wished to ‘make some noise' about SOBEK's rafting trips, cycling tours, 4WD adventures, trekking and the recently acquired Bali Bird Park. The invitation, comically shaped like a Bali Starling, was sent out to more than one thousand industry practitioners, from guides, to management, to reservation staff, to even drivers. Every person within the travel industry was encouraged to attend and each participant went home not empty handed but with a complimentary voucher to return to the park with their family.

The event called ‘Picnic at the Park' was held last Friday, Saturday and Sunday (28, 29 and 30 May 2004) and a similar programme will again be held this coming 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 June 2004.
